The Reactionary Politics Research Network will run its first summer school on the 9th and 10th of September 2024 at the University of Bath.
The summer school will provide PGR students and researchers, whether in academia or beyond, a critical space to develop essential skills to research of reactionary politics. Sessions will be led by experts on various key issues and our aim will be to create an interactive environment where the participants can bring their own challenges and apply insights to their research projects.
Sessions will be based on:
- Positionality, epistemology and intersectionality
- Critical research in conservative settings
- Critical and inclusive methods and methodologies
- Researcher wellbeing and safety
- Good and bad ethics (and bad actors)
- Research skills
- The ethics of teaching reactionary politics
Core facilitators will be amongst our founding members (Fran Amery (Bath), Uygar Baspehlivan (Bristol), Benoit Dillet (Bath), Emmy Eklundh (Cardiff), Fraser McQueen (Bristol), Elisabeth Moerking (Bristol), Aurelien Mondon (Bath), George Newth (Bath), Henrique Tavares Furtado (UWE), Alex Yates (Bath), Rebecca Yeo (Exeter)).
To ensure the widest possible accessibility, the summer school will be hosted in a hybrid fashion and attendance will be free, thanks to the funding received through the GW4 Building communities programme.
The RPRN will be able to provide a number of PGR bursaries to facilitate attendance, with priority being given to participants in GW4 institutions.
The deadline for applications is the 15th of July.
